Well, I uploaded my first song the other day, though it hasn't been voted on here at DMusic (Yet), I got some madd positive responses from it, and I appreciate them, each and everyone of them.
The other day I got talking with one of my friends who does beats, (He does the No Luv Lost beat you'll be hearing in a few days), and he mentioned how some rappers are underexposed/underrated, despite being better than mainstream rappers.
At some point, this is true, because I know a host of Soundclick rappers that could go toe to toe with any of the commercial rhyme slayers that are out now, but the thing is, they don't have the resources.
And the prices studios charge these days, don't really make things much easier either. What makes things even worse for myself anyways, is the fact that I have to travel OVERSEAS to use a studio, shit gets frustrating real quick.
Any of you have problems like that? I mean, you know you have the voice, you have the skills, but you don't have the money, and thats when it leads to shit you might end up either regretting later down the line, or nothing at all...

Being from the Virgin Islands, I consider being bad enough. Now, don't get me wrong, I love this place to death, and will rep' it till I can't even say it anymore, but this is truly the last place A&R's will look for rappers.
Why?
Simply put, we are considered the islands, and only tend to display 'reggae', and 'calypso' tunes, which of course, aren't very big in the states, except for what you hear through OTHER bands. (Ex. Swizz Beats and No Doubt ft. Bounty Killer, and of course Shaggy.)
THere are tons of artists, including myself that have the talent to make it in the rap game, from local group 2EK [2 E Kwip], to niggaz I've grown up with in high school, who dance and rap.
Talent is abundant in the VI, just need the A&Rs to take their heads outta they asses, stop waiting for someone to come out of somewhere first, to go and sign them. [Pretty Willie/Nelly]
